Special screening of Apollo-11 documentary film took place on Monday in Zhovten Kiev movie theater as a part of 10th festival of the American cinema Independence. Screening was sponsored by the US Embassy in Ukraine, which officially invited Yuzhnoye SDO to present its Moon exploration achievements to the theater-goers.

Based on archive footage, Apollo-11, is a unique opportunity to witness the first flight to the Moon and to experience those notable events of 50 years ago, when humanity made huge leap into the future.

This film was awarded Best Documentary Editing prize at the Sundance-2019 Film Festival, as well as other 45 awards and 35 nominations.

Before the screening, audience had the possibility to have a look at our subject display, which for the first time in Ukraine featured 1:5 scale model of the lunar lander-hopper.

Lunar lander-hopper is the up-to-date development of Yuzhnoye SDO for the scientific space missions, which after the landing onto the Moon surface is capable of triple hop up to 20 km distance with the scientific equipment, carrying out researches in each touchdown point.

And traditionally there were many people willing to «warm up» with the Moon Walk VR around our industrial & research lunar base.

Following the screening Moon Exploration: history and prospect discussion was held in the conference hall of the movie theater with participation of  Maxim Degtyarev, Yuzhnoye SDO Chief Designer & Head of Rocket & Space Launch Systems System Engineering, Pavlo Tanasyuk (Great Britain), СЕО of the  Spacebit start-up and Denis Rudenko, founder of the international company DECRON.Club and visionary of the Ukrainian community Space1OOO .

Maxim Degtyarev, in particular, told about Yuzhnoye SDO developments and products in the area of Moon exploration – namely about the lunar industrial & research base, space transport systems to ferry crew and cargos to the Moon surface and back to the Earth, lunar orbital station to provide remote exploration of the surface, to carry out experiments and to solve other problems.

We thank the sponsors for the interesting evening that got together so many people fascinated with space exploration.
