SICH-2-30: FROM THE BANKS OF THE DNIEPER RIVER TO SPACE ORBIT
On January 13, 2022, at 17:26 Kyiv time, the Falcon 9 launch vehicle lifted off with the Ukrainian Earth observation satellite Sich-2-30 onboard. The launch took place from the Space Launch Complex-40 on Cape Canaveral (the USA).
One hour 23 minutes into flight, the spacecraft separated from the Falcon 9’s second stage.
The National Space Control and Testing Center, located near Dunaevtsy, after the completion of two communication sessions established the stable communication with the satellite during the third orbit. All satellite onboard systems are performing nominally with solar panels open.
The Sich-2-30 satellite was designed and manufactured by Yuzhnoye State Design Office (Dnipro) together with the Ukrainian enterprises LTD RPI HARTRON-ARKOS (Kharkiv), LLC NPP HARTRON-YUKOM (Zaporizhzhya), SE ZAO NIIRI (Kharkiv), KB Arsenal (Kyiv), SSRE CONECS (Lviv), LC SRI (Lviv), SE PO Kyivprylad (Kyiv).
The satellite is designed to provide digital visible and NIR imagery of the Earth’s surface, combining a 7-m resolution (single pixel) with a 36.5-km swath width, monitor the basic parameters of neutral and charged ionospheric particles, and measure the dose of accumulated cosmic radiation.
