WATER ELECTROLYSIS
The best option of the Lunar Base power supply during a lunar night is to use the excess energy from the Sun, which accumulates as hydrogen and oxygen obtained by water electrolysis during a lunar day.Lunar water electrolysis, recently discovered by scientists, is also considered one of the most cost-effective methods of rocket propellant production at the Lunar Base.Scientists and specialists of Yuzhnoye State Design Office together with the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have developed an innovative water electrolysis technology using a membraneless high-pressure electrolyzer.
The proposed technology actually bypasses and eliminates the main problem of using existing technologies for generating hydrogen and oxygen on the lunar surface: large size, weight, cost of delivery of the compressor equipment to the lunar surface, as well as the complexity of maintaining such equipment on the lunar surface.

ADVANTAGES OF THE TECHNOLOGY
HYDROGEN ENERGY ACCUMULATOR FOR THE LUNAR BASE
Hydrogen energy accumulator plants, to be designed at subsequent stages of the innovative technology development, will be a starting point in the development of the most complete prototype of the Lunar Base power supply equipment made using materials and components that meet the requirements for its delivery and operation on the lunar surface.
This equipment is intended for testing and verification of operational conditions, with the highest practically achievable simulation of temperature and gravitational conditions of the lunar surface or the Lunar Base industrial rooms.
This stage in the creation of the hydrogen energy accumulator for the Lunar Base involves testing the plant on board a flying laboratory, reproducing the lunar gravity, to measure physical parameters of the gas generation processes under low gravity and high pressure in the electrolyzer cavities.
The basic specifications of the plant: the basic technical parameters of the plant, as well as the material and component requirements will be defined in accordance with specific conditions and objectives to be developed during the Lunar Base conceptual design.
