ROUND TABLE DEDICATED TO THE 240TH ANNIVERSARY OF OLEXANDR ZASIADKO’S BIRTH WAS HELD IN POLTAVA REGION

Olexandr Zasiadko, an inventor of combat powder missiles, was born in Poltava region in 1779. Researchers rightfully consider Mr Zasiadko to be the founder and progenitor of contemporary Ukrainian missile weaponry. He was the first in the world to build a launch system allowing to fire six missiles simultaneously, designed multiple missile launchers and target guidance devises for them. Mr Zasiadko developed missile combat tactics and his inventions became a prototype for contemporary multiple rocket launchers. In St. Petersburg, Mr Zasiadko established the first missile factory transferred to Mykolaiv in 1864 and High artillery school. By creating the Missile Company No. 1, he initiated a new type of the armed forces.
People of his native village Liutenka in Hadiach district of Poltava region care about their famous fellow villager. That is why, on 20 September 2019, they held the round table meeting dedicated to the 240th anniversary of Olexandr Zasiadko’s birth. Moreover, a local history school museum collected a lot of material about this famous Ukrainian and updated the exposition dedicated to him the day before the round table meeting.
Representatives of Yuzhnoye SDO, National center for aerospace education of youth named after O. M. Makarov, employees of S. P. Koroliov Museum of Cosmonautics of Zhytomyr Regional Council, Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics (Chernivtsi), Poltava Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, Liutenka comprehensive secondary school of I-III degrees, and Administration of Hadiach district of Poltava region were invited to participate in the round table.
Delegation of Yuzhnoye SDO representatives headed by Olexandr Kashanov, Deputy General Designer for Research and Academic Activities, paid a tribute of respect to the great Ukrainian and highlighted that his native village preserved memories about the famous designer with awe and love.
