Today the 6th International Conference “Space Technologies: Present and Future”, held under the auspices of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), is opened in Yuzhnoye State Design Office.

Such conferences take place once in two years in the city of Dnipro. The first one was held in 2007.
Approximately 500 scientists from 21 countries participate in the 6th Conference. These countries are Austria, Belarus, Belgium, UK, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, USA, Ukraine, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Sweden.

The participants of the Conference submitted 295 papers that are to be presented during six scientific sessions. The papers elaborated the following topics: development and production of launch vehicles, liquid and solid-propellant rocket propulsion systems, spacecraft, ground launch complexes, technologies to develop up-to-date materials for space rocketry, and humanitarian issues of space exploration.

The Conference is opened with a plenary meeting where 11 reports are planned to be presented.

The Conference lasts for 4 days.

The round-table discussion on creation of a lunar research base is to take place on 26 May.
