On January 9, 2014, at 20:06 Kiev time, the new Antares launch vehicle was successfully launched from Wallops Flight Facility (USA). The LV prime developer is Orbital Science Corporation (USA).

Antares LV orbited Cygnus cargo spaceship that is to supply the International Space Station (ISS) with about 1300-kg cargo, starting from drinking water and food and finishing with parts for the station service purpose and equipment to run more than two dozens of experiments.

28 Flock spacecraft and such nanosatellites as ArduSat 2, LituanicaSAT 1, LitSat 1, SkyCube, UAPSat 1 are injected into orbit as piggyback payload.

That was the third launch of the new Antares LV. The second launch of the LV took place on September 18, 2013. Antares LV is mainly designed to deliver cargo to the ISS, as well as to orbit commercial and governmental spacecraft.

The Antares LV Stage 1 Core Structure was developed by Yuzhnoye State Design Office and manufactured by Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant in cooperation with such Ukrainian companies as Hartron-ARKOS (Kharkiv), Kyivprylad (Kyiv), Hartron-Yucom (Zaporizhzhya), CHEZARA, RAPID (Chernihiv), etc. The Ukrainian experts were involved in the prelaunch processing and launch.
