On April 12, 2017, at Yuzhnoye SDO in Dnipro city, festive events took place devoted to the Company Establishment Day, the World’s Aviation and Cosmonautics Day, The Day of Ukrainian Space Rocket Industry Workers, and the 80-Anniversary of the Birth of Space Rocket General Designer,  Academician S.N. Konyukhov.

The festivities began from the floral tribute to the monuments to M.K. Yangel and A.M. Makarov, to the memorial tablets to V.S. Budnik, V.F. Utkin and S.N. Konyukhov in the territory of   Yuzhnoye SDO and SE PA YMZ and to S.N. Konyukhov monument on Zaporozhskoye cemetery of Dnipro city.

 

A festive meeting was held in Yangel street.

 

The high-day continued with the performance of Presidential Symphony Orchestra before the company employees on the site in front of Yuzhnoye SDO main building.

Then the press conference on the topic “Present and Future of Ukrainian Space” took place. The following persons answered to the questions of journalists: General Designer A.V. Degtyarev, Acting General Director V.A. Bondar’, First Deputies General Designer-General Director E.V. Kuryachy, A.N. Mashchenko, O.P. Kushnar’ov, Deputy General Designer A.L. Makarov and Head of International Cooperation Division S.V. Kutovoy.

 

During the second half of the day, a grand meeting of Yuzhnoye SDO Scientific-Technical Council took place. At the STC meeting, S.N. Konyukhov’s associates, followers and honorary guests spoke with recollections about S.N. Konyukhov. Besides, the photo album “My Destiny – Yuzhnoye SDO” and the commemorative medal “The 80-anniversary of S.N. Konykhov” were presented.

 

At the end of STC meeting, the company’s veterans and employees were bestowed with the awards from the Dnipro City Council, State Space Agency of Ukraine, Aerospace Society of Ukraine and Yuzhnoye SDO.

 

At the press conference and during the STC meeting, it was noted that the number of Yuzhnoye SDO’s international projects increases from year to year and is expanded geographically. This became possible due to the wise and forward-looking policy of General Designer-General Director S.N. Konyukhov pursued by him in 1991-2010. During the period of his management, from four foreign launch bases, 94 launches of Yuzhnoye SDO-developed launch vehicles were made and more than two hundred spacecraft of different nations were injected into near-Earth orbits.

S.N. Konyukhov had a winning personality, which allowed him uniting a team of associates around him. Fast reaction, ability of taking into consideration partner’s interests, confidence in making offbeat decisions – these are the merits that always helped him to find reliable associates and friends.

 

Stanislav Nikolayevich Konyukhov left an abundant heritage of scientific-technical developments and projects and the main thing – a great pleiad of his associates and followers who currently continue his work.
