DNEPR LAUNCHES JAPANESE SATELLITES
The Dnepr launch vehicle successfully lifted off from the Yasny launch base, Orenburg region, on November 6, 2014 at 9:35 Kiev time. The launch vehicle placed the Japanese satellites into the low-earth orbit.
The Dnepr is a converted launch vehicle developed by Yuzhnoye SDO and manufactured by Yuzhmash PA in cooperation with Ukrainian and Russian enterprises.
The ASNARO (Advanced Satellite with New system Architecture for Observation) satellite and four piggyback microsatellites were injected into the low-earth orbit.
The ASNARO is designed by the Institute of Unmanned Space Experiment Free Flyer (USEF) and NEC Corporation, and intended for Earth remote sensing. It weighs 500 kg.
The Hodoyoshi-1, ChubuSat-1, TSUBAME, Qsat-EOS microsatellites are designed by universities of Japan, and intended for Earth remote sensing and astronomical observations.
It was the twenty-first launch of the Dnepr rocket. As of today, the Dnepr has placed into the low-earth orbits 124 spacecraft for 30 countries, including Ukraine, England, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, Egypt,
Israel, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the United States of America, Thailand, Turkey, France, Sweden, Ecuador, South Africa, South Korea, and Japan.
