The majority of achievements in space exploration are impossible without international cooperation in various areas of space activities.  Our country has great experience and significant achievements in the outer space exploration and usage and improves cooperation with other countries in this field. That is why, on 19 September 2019, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) put a commemorative coin “First launch of Zenit-3SL launch vehicle” into circulation. These coins with denomination of five hryvnias and mintage of 40 000 pcs. are made from nickel silver.

The issue of the coin is dedicated to an important stage in the history of national and international rocket production; it commemorates the first launch of the Zenit-3SL launch vehicle from the Odyssey launch platform on 28 March 1999.
On the coin’s obverse, on top, is Ukraine’s small coat of arms; below is the following legend: UKRAINE; in the center is a conventionalized composition that symbolizes the launch of Zenit-3SL launch vehicle; below is the following legend: 5 HRYVNIAS (denomination) and 2019 (mint year); the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works is below and to the right.

The reverse depicts a conventionalized composition of the ocean platform against a smooth background with a ship to the left and the following circular legend: SEA LAUNCH PROGRAM (on top) and FIRST LAUNCH OF ZENIT-3SL LAUNCH VEHICLE (below).
