On 26-27 September, a business meeting was held at Yuzhnoye SDO within the General agreement on scientific and technical cooperation in space industry between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Yuzhnoye SDO. The representatives of the NAS of Belarus and Yuzhnoye SDO discussed questions about practical implementation of the Agreement and the Belarusian party proposed new areas that are beside the activities of working groups but can be prospective for cooperation.

The delegation of the NAS of Belarus consisted of Pyotr Vityaz, Head of the NASB Apparatus, Ivan Bucha, Head of the Department of Space Activities of the NASB Apparatus and Secretary of the Coordination Council for General Agreement Implementation by the Belarusian party, Vladimir Borodavko, General Director of Scientific Manufacturing Association “Center” of the NAS of Belarus, Vladimir Agabekov, Director of the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials of the NAS of Belarus, Igor Pobol, Head of the Department of Electron Beam Technology and Plasma Physics of the Physical and Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus, and Dmitry Semenko, project manager of Scientific Manufacturing Association “Center” of the NAS of Belarus.

Traditionally, the international meeting started with a tour of Yuzhnoye SDO. The guests visited the pilot production facilities, computing center with a supercomputer, spacecraft assembly and electrical test shop.

During the meeting, experts of Yuzhnoye SDO told about the specificity of ballistic calculations for the launch vehicles and spacecraft development and operation and demonstrated the technologies that Yuzhnoye SDO uses for thermal protective coating application, strengthening treatment of metal materials, and 3D-production of metal items.

The representatives of the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials of the NAS of Belarus, Physical and Technical Institute of the NAS of Belarus, and NPO Center talked about new prospective areas of cooperation.

Yuzhnoye SDO experts expressed their interest in the advanced projects of Belarusian colleagues concerning the development of electronic components as well industrial and aerospace stock-produced items.

After the discussion of possible areas of cooperation, the participants of the meeting wrote their suggestions in the minutes of meeting signed by Pyotr Vityaz, Head of the NASB Apparatus, and Alexander Degtyarev, General Director of Yuzhnoye SDO.

The document approves the results of joint scientific activities, determines the participants and possible directions of joint research in the future, and formulates tasks and requirements for the results of activities.

Summing up the meeting, Alexander Degtyarev, General Director of Yuzhnoye SDO, and Pyotr Vityaz, Head of the NASB Apparatus, expressed their confidence in more intensive cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and Yuzhnoye SDO in the outer space peaceful exploration and usage.
