Yuzhnoye SDO was visited by the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) delegation. In addition to Director and Sector Manager of the Defense Projects Department and POLSA’s Strategy and International Cooperation Department Director, the delegation included the representatives of the departments and the enterprises of the Polish Space Industry.

Before visiting Yuzhnoye SDO, the Polish specialists met with their Ukrainian colleagues at ХI INTERNATIONAL aviaTION & SPACE SALON AVIASVIT-XXI and XV INTERNATIONAL SPECIALIZED EXHIBITION ARMS AND SECURITY 2018, where Grzegorz Brona, the President of the Polish Space Agency, and Oleksandr Degtyarev, Head and General Director of Yuzhnoye SDO, discussed possible areas of cooperation. Detailed talks were continued in Dnipro, on October 11.

The Polish delegation members became aware with Yuzhnoye SDO’s activities, watched some videos about Yuzhnoye SDO’s space projects, saw Yuzhnoye SDO’s new production facilities – the space vehicle assembly and test department and the sector of additive manufacturing of complex parts of rocket-and-space hardware (3D-printer), and visited (Yuzhmash) Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant’s general assembly shop, where launch vehicles are assembled. The Polish delegation conducted a meeting with Yuzhnoye SDO’s and Yuzhmash’s specialists.

The meeting was focused on finding potential ways of Ukrainian-Polish rocket-and-space technology cooperation. The guests’ attention was drawn to space-and-defense technologies and their particular attention was drawn to the launch vehicles «Cyclone-1M» and «Cyclone-4M», satellites and satellite platforms.

«Poland has greater cooperation. Perhaps we could establish cooperation on creating satellites and satellite platforms», emphasized Oleksandr Kushnarev, First Deputy General Designer-General Director General for System Design.

The guests showed the Polish Space Agency and industry cooperation potential in and around propulsion systems, new technologies and materials. The Polish colleagues believed that Ukrainian and Polish mutual activities focused on space rocket building could help both countries to achieve significant results and save a substantial sum of money.

«Last year Poland developed National Space Strategy; it is aimed at developing of different space-related fields and international cooperation. It is a matter of time to know how close international cooperation will be – it depends on national interests and level of funding. It was of such importance to us to be aware of your potential and we got a large amount of information within a short space of time. Most of all, I was impressed by the variety of your projects. You have so many interesting ones to establish cooperation between our countries», said Rafal Borek, POLSA’s Defense Projects Department Director.

«We have had a very fruitful meeting. It takes time to think in details about possible ways of further cooperation. Major issues are still to be resolved, especially by the Ukrainian and Polish governments. The first step has been taken, hopefully, it will work», summed up Oleksandr Kushnarev.

The Polish specialists were invited to visit VII International Scientific Conference ‘Space Technologies: Present and Future’ that will be held in Yuzhnoye SDO next year.
