ILA BERLIN AIR SHOW: SUCCESSFUL PRESENTATION AND REWARDING EXPERIENCE
ILA Berlin Air Show 2018 was held from 25 to 29 April and welcomed about 1,100 companies from 41 countries, among which were Yuzhnoye SDO and Yuzhmash, the leaders of Ukrainian space industry.
Held every even year, ILA Berlin Air Show is a large ground for business meetings with colleagues from all over the world, presentation of new achievements, negotiations, and sharing experience.
ILA Berlin Air Show 2018 was not the exception. Ukrainian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Yuriy Brovchenko and Head of State Space Agency of Ukraine Pavel Degtiarenko had a number of meetings, which are meaningful for Ukrainian space industry development, with leaders of the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Ministry of Defense of Germany, German Aerospace Center (DLR), French national aerospace research center (ONERA), and European Space Agency.
Yuzhnoye SDO representatives led by General Director Alexander Degtyarev attended official meetings with colleagues from space agencies of Germany, Italy, and Kazakhstan and talked over possible courses of profitable cooperation. Besides, Yuzhnoye SDO had meetings with representatives of about 30 companies, during which the matters of hi-tech equipment procurement, import substitution, and promising partnership were discussed.
Yuzhnoye SDO displayed the models of launch vehicles Cyclone-4M, Mayak-33-4N, Zenit-3SL, satellite Sich-2M, engines RD-810 and RD-843, and fuel (cryogenic) tank and, as always, attracted much attention of the Air Show visitors. There were a good many specialists showed interest in future launches of Cyclone-4M. The spectacular models of RD-810 and RD-843 engines were also in the center of attention since a very few companies are capable to produce such technology.
Yuzhnoye SDO presented its own project of research and production facilities on the Moon, thereby giving good reasons for membership in the Moon Village Association (MVA) and grounds for ambitious plans on settlement of the Earth’s satellite.
Among other subjects of discussion, the attention was given to additive manufacture technologies, polymer and composite materials, specific application of materials for promising designs.
