LAND LAUNCH: ISRAELI AMOS-4 SATELLITE ORBITED
On August 31, 2013, at 23:05 Kiev time, Zenit-3SLB launch vehicle was success-fully launched from Baikonur launch site to orbit AMOS-4 satellite designed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for Spacecom Company.
The 4260-kg satellite was put into target orbit with desired accuracy. AMOS-4 is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment to support the Internet high-rate links, HDTV broadcast lines, as well as communication and data transmission channels. The signal will cover the Middle-East countries, as well as Europe, India and South-East Asia, African countries, and a part of the Russian Federation. AMOS-4 occupies an orbital slot at longitude 65-degree east.
The satellite constellation already includes AMOS-2, AMOS-5, and AMOS-3 that was orbited onboard Zenit-3SLB on April 28, 2008.
Services of satellite orbiting onboard Zenit-3SLB from Baikonur launch site, within the framework of the Land Launch project, are provided by the joint Ukrainian-Russian venture – Space International Services (SIS).
Zenit-3SLB integrated launch vehicle (ILV) is designed by Yuzhnoye SDO. Stages 1 and 2 are designed by Yuzhnoye SDO and manufactured by Yuzhmash (Ukraine); Stage 3 (DM-SLB) is designed and manufactured by Energia RSC (Russia); Payload Fairing is designed and manufactured by Lavochkin Research and Production Associ-ation (Russia).
The ILV was processed for launch, tested, and launched by Yuzhnoye experts to-gether with representatives of Ukrainian and Russian subcontractors.
It was the 6th successful launch of Zenit-3SLB within the framework of the Land Launch program. All the launches have been successful.
