In the course of production activity of the enterprise environmental safety is provided, as well as rational use of natural resources, observance of standards of the harmful environmental impacts in accordance with environmental legislation of Ukraine.

The following environmental protection provisions are effective at the enterprise:

• follows the environmental safety quality standard developed in accordance with the main provisions of ISO 14000 international standards on environmental quality management;
• obtains all the required permits concerning the harmful substances emitted by Yuzhnoye’s stationary sources;
• obtains all the required documents concerning environmental safety (records of emissions of harmful substances to the atmosphere, records of the company’s manufacturing and sanitary wastes, certificates and record cards for all types of wastes);
• cooperates with administrative and local authorities with respect to environmental safety (the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Health, Prosecutor General’s Office, regional office of state administration, city council, etc.);
• controls and monitors the amount and chemical composition of pollutants emitted to the atmosphere and the intensity of noise, vibration, thermal and electromagnetic radiation released to the environment;
• observes the applicable sanitary and hygienic standards concerning the aforementioned emissions;
• uses the sources of emissions that meet the permissible levels of impact on the environment and are properly outfitted, with gas cleaning facilities where necessary;
• pays charges for environmental pollution;
• determines the chemical composition and properties of produced wastes and their potential hazards to the environment and people;
• registers and collects industrial wastes at special facilities with proper equipment;
• transfers manufacturing and sanitary wastes for disposal to other companies in accordance with respective contracts and in compliance with the requirements of the environmental legislation of Ukraine.
